Inspection of the establishments
Seveso establishments are regularly inspected.
Each Region has an inspection team. This team is made up of regional and federal inspectors. They regularly inspect Seveso establishments based on a set inspection system.
They carry out a planned and systematic inspection at each Seveso establishment:
- Inspections take place according to a plan, as it is impossible to be present everywhere at the same time, or to check all prevention systems for all risks within a company at once.
- The inspection department applies systematic methods to detect any errors. The risk of a major accident will depend on the chemical and toxic nature of the dangerous substances. These risks cannot be observed during a normal inspection visit. To do so, you need special inspection techniques.
