Assistance in case of accidents

In the event of an accident, both first aid and the internal emergency plan are of crucial importance. 

First aid

Since 1998 there is the Belintra agreement (Belgian Incidents with Transports of hazardous substances). This agreement regulates professional assistance in the event of chemical accidents. The authorities or the fire brigade have the expertise of a team of experts in the chemical industry at their disposal 24/7. In the event of an accident, they are able to give advice by telephone, send an expert to the site, or even assist the emergency services with specialist interventions or equipment. 

Internal emergency plan

All Seveso establishments have an internal emergency plan. They practise and update this plan on a regular basis.
